An exceptional variety of student work will be on show in a special exhibition at The Brownston Gallery in Modbury this January and February 2007.
Student Showcase 2007 is a four week show of student work across a variety of mediums including painting and wall-hung work, sculpture, textiles, conceptual art, installations, video installations/moving image work, jewellery, glassware and ceramics. From Friday 12 January 2007 to Saturday 12 February 2007 the exhibition will occupy all of The Brownston Gallery’s main exhibition space. ‘Easel’, a second separate exhibition space, will be utilised by the conceptual and installation artists.
More than fifteen students will be exhibiting, including inspirational glass-work by Emmy-Gai Palmer (whose work was recently photographed for a forthcoming article in the BBC ‘Homes and Antiques’ magazine) and outstanding and poignant photographic works by Sarah Abrams, Ken Purdie and Tony Cobley.
Exciting glass artist Nina Stanyak’s work represents a unique method of combining glass and concrete which will captivate and intrigue viewers, harnessing the harshness of the concrete with the sheer liquidity and flow of the glass, a magical combination of urban and organic power.
Paul Hannon will be exhibiting a breath-taking selection of new paintings in a variety of media, Hannon has the extraordinary power to encapsulate all elements of human emotion within his work, allowing viewers to momentarily escape and reflect. He has the incredible and rare ability to represent, life, death, journeys through life and even simple childhood love in all its simplicity and true beauty.
